A weekend in Barnard Castle – A guide from The Times.

For those of us who live in the area we have always known that Barnard Castle is a very special place, steeped in history, home to a French Chateau that houses some of the worlds most impressive art works, surrounded by breath taking scenery and lucky enough to have maintained a traditional high street of independent traders and of course, plenty of friendly folk.

Barnard Castle has come to the attention of the Times travel writer, Stephen McClarence who chose to visit recently for the “weekend in …” feature in the Saturday travel section. We were delighted to host Stephen when he visited and very happy to fill him in on the best places to visit that are not in the guide books and of course tell him all about our own history and connections to Charles Dickens.

The Garage Spa voted Best Boutique Spa in the Good Spa Guide Awards 2018.

The annual Good Spa Guide Awards in association with Temple Spa took place on 13^thNovember as part of the Spa Life Conference.

This is certainly a case of lucky 13 for us as The Garage Spa was voted Best Boutique Spa.  The awards are voted for by spa-goers and that makes this even more special, thank you to everyone that voted for us.

The Boutique Spa category is for smaller spas like us that offer a great spa experience and lots of personality.

We were up against Spa’s from all over the UK and the competition was tough so your votes really do mean a lot.

The Garage Spa offers a great range of treatments and experiences including the Shepherds Hut Sauna, Car Wash Shower, indoor and outdoor hot tub experiences and couples treatment room.

Located on the site of a former garage as our name suggests, the spa is an oasis of calm and luxurious treatments to help you relax and unwind and ensure you leave feeling like you really have had an MOT.
